The Grand Canal in Irish: An Chanáil Mhór  is the southernmost of a pair of canals that connect Dublin Ireland. It was built to connect Dublin with the River Shannon in the west of Ireland, via Tullamore and a number of other villages and towns. Its sister canal is the Royal Canal on the Northside of Dublin. The last working cargo barge passed through the Grand Canal in 1960. This photo shows a beautiful barge in the Autumnal colours.
