If you take a walk down the Great South Wall in Dublin you will come across the the Half Moon Swimming club. It was founded back in 1898. At one time in its history, it was home to a British army gun battery.  It got its name from the gun turret which was mounted in a half moon shape. It was shaped this way this because it was needed to cover the entire entrance to Dublin Port. The clubhouse is a concrete structure and there is a ladder on the side where you can climb down and go swimming in Dublin bay. Nothing more refreshing to start your day.
