The Ha’penny Bridge in Irish: Droichead na Leathphingine. It was officially called the Liffey Bridge. It is a pedestrian bridge and was built in May 1816 over the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland.  The bridge is made from cast iron. It was originally called the Wellington Bridge after the Dublin-born Duke of Wellington. The name of the bridge was changed to Liffey Bridge after the Irish War of Independence in 1922. To most Dubliners the bridge is know as the Ha’penny Bridge. For over 100 years there used to be a toll of a Ha’penny to cross the bridge.
