Trim Castle – Co. Meath

Trim Castle was built around 1172, shortly after the arrival of the Anglo-Normans in Ireland. It is the largest and most impressive Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland. Trim get its name from the Irish words Baile tha Troim, meaning Town of the Ford of the Elder Trees’. An early monastery was sited on this location.
